Rangoon: One man was killed and two women were injured in Rangoon yesterday in a bomb blast that occurred a day before Burma's Revolution Day and Army Day, said a witness in Rangoon.
The bomb detonated at a hotel located in North Okkalapa Township in Rangoon, but there is no further information about the incident.
The Burmese military junta typically blames ethnic insurgent groups and exiled democratic groups whenever an explosion such as this occurs in Burma.
Local citizens expect the authorities will also blame this blast on opposition groups, as it has in the past, said the witness.
Many small bomb blasts have occurred in recent months, including two small bomb explosions in Rangoon in early March that caused minor damage but no injuries.
In October of last year, one many was killed in a blast in Rangoon while two people were killed in another explosion that happened in a video cafe outside of the city.
