Cox’sbazar: A sergeant from the Burmese army was arrested on Sunday in Bangladesh while trespassing on Bangladeshi territory along with four Bangladeshi citizens, according to an official report.
Sergeant Tun Tun is from the army field engineer battalion that is working on the border fence construction along the western Burmese border.
According to the report, Tun Tun told Bangladesh authorities that he intruded into Bangladesh territory while searching for a missing row boat from his battalion that had crossed the Naff River.
A team from Bangladesh battalion 42 arrested him while he was walking in an area of Nila Town with four Bangladesh citizens. Bangladesh authorities informed Burmese border security force Nasaka of the incident after arresting the sergeant.
Bangladesh authorities have kept the sergeant and the four Bangladeshis in custody for interrogation regarding his intrusion into Bangladesh.
