At least 1,500 houses were burnt down by the military junta
and its affiliates in Buthidaung township of Rakhine State during April, said
Data For Myanmar.
According to data, released on 3 May, 3,960 houses
were destroyed by arson carried out by the junta forces across Myanmar in
April.
On the other hand, 1,500 houses were torched in
Buthidaung locality. Similarly, 1,220 houses were burned in Mandalay region,
997 in Sagaing region and 229 in Magway region.
"According to the local sources, 2,000 to 3,000 houses
were burnt down in Buthidaung. Data For Myanmar has included an approximate
number only and it will be updated with confirmed details later,” added the
report.
According to data collected till the end of April
2024, a total of 88,373 residential houses were destroyed after the coup on 1
February 2021 by junta forces and their affiliates.
