Rakhine IDP shot dead in Maungdaw

A  52-year-old IDP was shot dead by the soldiers belonging to the 2nd border guard police battalion on 4 May  at around 5 pm in Maungdaw township of Rakhine State, said local witnesses.

 

The victim is identified as U Kyaw Thein  from Aung Thar Yar village near Kyee Kan Pyin border guard headquarters, who sought refuge in the 4-mile Ma Gyee Kone village.

 

"He fled the conflict in Aung Thar Yar village and faced the brutal assassination as he was returning from the market and he died on the spot,” said a local villager.

 

Currently the Arakha Army (AA) fighters have  been attacking the 2nd border guard police battalion with drones every day.

 

In May, Daw Mya Win (36) from Done Chaung (Rakhine) village under Buthidaung township was killed by an artillery shell, fired by the junta battalion. A 13-year-old youth from Ta Rein (Mro) village was also killed by the soldiers.
