A 14-year-old boy was killed and his father was injured as they  stepped on a junta planted landmine in Minbya township of Rakhine State. The young victim is identified as Maung Tun Win and injured person as U Win (50), who hails from Chel Taung village.

Both accidentally stepped on the landmine while looking for forest produce near their village in the afternoon hours of 3 May, said a local resident.

"The incident took place at around 3 pm. The son sustained severe injuries and the  father injured both of his legs. As  they didn't return to the village, the villagers went in search of  them, but they couldn't find them. The villagers recovered the injured father and dead son only the next morning,” added the resident.

The father was taken to a nearby hospital. The junta forces have planted landmines in various places  and the  people looking for forest produce are facing the explosions.
