Two Rohingya refugees were killed in a gunfight between
Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa) and Rohingya Solidarity Organization
(RSO) members in a Rohingya camp in Ukhiya upazila of Cox's Bazar on Monday
morning.
One of the deceased was identified as Nurul Bashar, 55. The
identity of the other victim was not immediately known.
Ukhiya police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shamim Hossain
said: “The gunfight between Arsa and the RSO began early Monday morning at the
Jamtoli Lal Pahar camp. The exchange of fire lasted for a while. Sensing the
presence of the administration, the criminals fled. The bodies of two people
were found during the search.”
“The bodies were recovered and sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar
Hospital for autopsy. Further procedures are underway,” he added.
