Four bodies with bullet injuries were recovered at Minbya under Mrauk U district of Arakan in western Myanmar, said May Lwan village tract administrator.

Among them the corpse of U Khet Maung (54 years old) from Ahtet Ngat Pyaw Chaung village in May Lwan village tract under Minbya township was found under a bush near to Yangon-Sittwe highway, added the administrator.

“He (U Khet Maung) went missing on 11 January after a battle broke out in the locality. He might have died few days back, but his body with bullet injuries was found on 16 January only,” said the administrator.

Other three bodies were found on 15 January at the foothill of Far Pro Mountain, which is two miles away from May Lwan village.

“The victims are yet to be identified. The entire area witnessed a fierce battle between Myanmar Army personnel and Arakan Army members very recently,” said U Hla Thein Aung, the representative of Minbya township in the Rakhine State Parliament.

Deputy administrator of Minbya township also confirmed it. However he admitted that it was still a difficult job to probe the murders because of deteriorating law and order situation.

Mentionable is that a 28 years old villager named  Zaw Win from Kanni in Kyaung Taung village tract under Minbya township had been missing since 11 January.

His family members informed that Zaw Win  went missing as he was returning from Minbya town riding a motorbike.
