Three of a family killed in Maungdaw car bomb blast, 6 wounded

Three members of a Rakhine family were killed in a car bomb blast which also injured six other members that took place today afternoon in Maungdaw township on western border of Rakhine State.

The victims were identified as Kyaw Ye Aung (25), his wife Ma Aye San Nu (20) and their one-year-old son from Kha Myaing village.

The incident took place in between  Kyun Pauk village-tract and Leik Ya village-tract in northern Maungdaw township as the car was on its return journey from Kathin religious robe offering festival in Thayar Gone village.

Nantha Taung Sayadaw U Sarana, who was present on the location informed that the blast took place at around 1 pm. It was a heavy explosion that threw away the moving car.

All the injured individuals were sent to Maungdaw district hospital.
