At least nine Omicron infected persons were detected for the first time in Rakhine State.
The State council confirmed that their nose & throat samples were sent toYangon for testing and it was found positiveon 18 February for the new variant of Covid-19.
On 15 February, more than 10 flight passengers and 50 teachers from Sittwe University were screened for novel coronavirus infection and ninewere tested positive for the new variant.
Among those infected fivewere flight passengers and four individuals were from Sittwe University.
Lately, the number of corona-infected persons in RakhineState has increased.
The authority has ordered for screening of all passengers including the air travelers forCovid-19.
As of yesterday, there were 5,436corona-positive cases with 501 casualties in the State, reported the Covid-19 control and emergencyresponse committee.
