Eid-ul-Fitr for Muslims in Rakhine State will be celebrated from 3 May.
Muslims living in various townships of the State will celebrate the three-day long festival in their
respective religious schools and mosques,
said Sittwe Muslim administrator Maung Kyaw Hla.
Speaking to Narinjara News, he added that the holy Eid festival is organized every year. It is the month
of Sabbath for the Muslims.
Buthidaung township administrator Kyan Aye informed that there was no plan to tighten the security during
Eid as the regular security arrangement
is understood enough.
"Normal security arrangements have been made for the festival. There is no such restriction for the
Muslims,” he added.
Eid is understood as the time for religious devotion and goodwill.
Association of Islamic Scholars chairman in Maungdaw, Mawlawi Hamindula said, “This festival is about
people’s love for each other, while they
go from house to house and eat accordingly. It is a sacred day."
Under the military regime, the Muslim groups in Burma have been urged to celebrate Eid with a brief program.
Muslim Revolutionary Forces issued
a letter for the Muslims asking them to observe the festival privately with their families.
According to sources, they are celebrating this Eid together with the Muslim world, including Saudi Arabia,
while around 45 countries across the
world are celebrating the religious festival on Tuesday.
