ULA condoles the demise of Dr Wakar Uddin

United League of Arakan (ULA, the political wing of Arakan Army) has sent a letter of condolence to thefamily of  renowned academician Dr WakarUddin, who passed away at 11 am on Friday (29 April 2022).

According to the family sources, he passed away inBaltimore, Maryland, whileundergoing treatment at John's Hopskin University Hospital. Born in 1954 at Maung Daw of Arakan, Dr Wakar Uddintaught at Pennsylvania StateUniversity.

“We (ULA/AA) are deeply saddened by the news and send our deepest condolences to the bereaved family andhis friends. With an aim to resolvethe conflicts between the two communities in Arakan, he worked tirelessly  with ULA/AA andArakanese Diaspora and remained pragmaticin working out ways to achieve the social harmony and peaceful coexistence between them,” said a statement.

ULA’s letter mentioned that Dr Wakar Uddin was tirelessly working for the oppressed communities.
“The professor was widely accepted individual among the Muslim leaders who are working for the oppressedpeople and stood with them in need,” itstated.

It also added that historical records show how under the situation of political turmoil, the unscrupulouselements created trouble between thetwo communities when Dr Wakar Uddin tried his best to find a peaceful solution.

“We deem his passing away as a great loss especially whenefforts to build social harmonybetween the two communities are being made. Dr Wakar Uddin possessed a profound understanding of ourorganization and also our goal.May Allah put him on Jannatul Firdaus!” said the ULA statement.
