UNHCR provides assistance to fire victims of Mahamuni IDP camp

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has provided assistance to the fire victims in Mahamuni IDP camp under Kyauktaw townshipof Rakhine State.

Affected families received emergency relief items like sleeping mats, blankets, kitchen sets, sanitary kits,solar lantern, tarpaulins, etc.

According to the UNHCR report, immediately after the fire outbreak, the organization has been working withits partners to coordinate the emergencyresponse to the affected families.

However, the UNHCR did not disclose the amount and value of relief items.

Mentionable is that the fire broke out at Mahamuni refugee camp on 9 May that destroyed 262 shelters leavingmore than 1,000 people homeless.
