Twelve more bodies recovered in Gwa coast, the casualty up to 29

Twelve dead bodies including the children were recovered from Gwa coast, located in southern Rakhine State close to Irrawaddy division on 24 and 25 May last. It increases the casualty up to 29 in a boat capsize.

A Gwa township police station officer confirmed  that 12 bodies, belonging to Muslim community, were found within two days in Gwa sea beaches.

"On 24 May, four bodies were recovered and the next day eight bodies were found. They all belonged to  Mulsim villages in Rakhine state . Their burials were done accordingly,” said the police officer.

Earlier on 21 May, seventeen Muslim bodies  were recovered from  Shwe Thaungyan beach under  Pathein township of Irrawaddy division.

 All the victims hail from Rathidaung township of Rakhine State and they  faced the motorboat accident while traveling from Rakhine to Yangon proceeding to the Malaysian,  said general Zaw Min Tun, the military council spokesman.

 At least 90 Muslim people left Rathidaung, 20 miles north of Sittwe with  a motorboat that faced the accident on 21  May because of the stormy weather. The boat finally sank in the eastern sea of Irrawaddy division.

The Pathein township police have rescued and later detained 30 survivors, all of them fall in the age group of 14 to 40 years.

 The successive governments have restricted Muslims in Rakhine state in traveling, but many of them try to leave their places with the help of illegal brokers. Often they face accidents while travelling to Malaysia.
