The ArakanArmy (AA) released the Ponna Kyunt township administrator and his driver onSaturday after a weeklong detention.

AdministratorU Hla Shwe (53 years old) and his driver U Maung Kyaw Naing (30) were releasedbetween Yongu and Kyauk Sike villages under Ponna Kyunt Township, which is 16miles north of the Rakhine capital city of Sittwe.

TheULA/AA statement revealed that they were detained for some queries. Asthey are not related to the military, both of them were released accordingly.

TheAA members picked up both the individuals while they were returning by a carfrom a pilgrimage to Maha Muni pagoda in Kyauk Taw township on 17 July in theafternoon hours.

Soonafter the incident, the military council arrested U Thee Khaing and U Saw AyeMaung  from Ponna Kyunt on 19 July and shockingly both went missing withno contacts with their families till date.
