Security tightened after Kyauk Phyu police officer abducted by AA

Narinjara News, 25 July  2022

As the Arakan Army (AA) abducted a police officer,  who was in charge of Sanae Town police station under Kyauk Phyu township of Rakhine State, the  military council tightened the security in the area.

Residents revealed that Sanae police station superintendent Kyaw Zin Win was abducted by AA members from the market area while he was shopping at 8 am on Sunday. Soon after the incident, the authorities increased security cover and closed down all the shops in the market.

"We don't know who was shopping with him in the market. But the AA members took him alone. Now all the  shops have been  closed," added the residents.

Rakhine State minister on security and border affairs  colonel Kyawthura was contacted by Narinjara News for details, but it emerged unsuccessful.

The AA spokesperson U Khaing Thukha was also  contacted but no response still follows.

The  AA has been detaining some individuals from time to time to examine their relations with the military. If they are not found suspected, the AA would release him accordingly.

Ponna Kyunt township administrator U Hla Shwe and his driver U Maung Kyaw Naing were released yesterday by the AA members after a weeklong detention.
