A brief gun fighting between the Burmese army personnel and Arakan Army members took place in Paletwa township of Chin State on 24 July, said the residents.
The clash broke out on the road towards Abound Thar village from the west of Paletwa and lasted
for a few minutes.
“The battle broke out at around 10 am. We could even hear gunshots of small arms,” added the residents.
The battle took place
near Abound Thar village where both the armed
forces clashed last May.
The gunfighting stopped by 11 am and later three cannon shells were used in Paletwa
township.
Presently, the situation in Paletwa has turned into normalcy, informed the locals.
An eyewitness informed that the gunfighting lasted only 25 minutes. He also added that three heavy
artillery shells from east of the town were heard.
Earlier, the soldiers and AA members engaged in a brief battle on 26 May between Abound Thar and Kum Chaung Wa villages under Paletwa
township.
