Police officer shot dead in Kyauk Phyu

A police officer was shot dead by a junior in Kyauk Phyu  of Rakhine State yesterday night.

According to the police report, the incident took place at 10:35 pm of  29 July at Kyauk Phyu  police station.

The victim, identified as sub–police superintendent Ohn Zaw Htay, succumbed to injuries at Kyauk Phyu district hospital.

The accused killer, identified as  constable Soe Lin Aung, ran away after the incident. He fled with a gun and over 100 live bullets. About five gunshots were heard by the people living nearby the police station.

A  Kyauk Phyu  resident informed Narinjara News that he  heard four to five shots from the police station. Later he came to know that the injured police officer died at the hospital in the night hours.

It is yet to be revealed why he targeted his senior officer. The military council and the local police personnel are desperately looking for him.
