The Burmese military junta forces have arrested one villagerfrom Ann township suspecting his role in illegally transporting Muslim peoplefrom Rakhine State to Burma proper.
U Maung Tin Ohn (alias) U U Oh (55 years old) was picked upfrom Tan Chuang village, 9 miles south of Ann, where the western command isstationed.
U Thein Naing, the village head, informed Narinjara Newsthat about 40 members of the junta forces arrived at his residence at around 10am of 9 August and arrested him.
"The soldiers alleged that Maung Tin Ohnis involved with the illegal act of sending Muslims from the Rakhinevillages to Burma proper. But I know he is not involved in any kind oftrafficking,” he added.
A family member admitted that they are worried about MaungTin Ohn as they have no information about his whereabouts.
"They didn't inform me where he is being kept. Theyonly said that he would be released after a few days. But we can not believethem (soldiers),” he said.
It is reported that Maung Tin Ohn is a farmer, whoworked in the mountain near the village with his family members. Their villagesupports about 100 households and most of the residents are farmers byprofession.
