Bangladesh will lodge a “strong” protest against shells firedfrom Myanmar into Bangladesh, saidBangladesh media reports.
At least two unexploded mortar shells landed at Tumbruborder of Ghumdhum in Bandarban’s Naikkhyangchhari of Bangladesh onSunday. The local villagers got scared after witnessing the shells.
Bangla foreign secretary Masud Bin Momen confirmed thatDhaka will protest against the actions.
"We usually protest against such things. A few daysago, we received similar reports. We will strongly protest,” said Momen.
He added that they would first investigate the matterif the mortar shells were fired intentionally towards the Bangladesh territoryand then would do the needful.
Meanwhile, the Border Guard Bangladesh has stepped upits vigil along the Myanmar border in Bandarban locality.
According to the Arakan Army sources, the Burmese juntaforces attacked their camps on the border with Bangladesh by using the Russianmade Mi 35 on 28 August. The AA has already started an offensive against thegovernment forces in northern Maungdaw township in order to maintain theircontrol over areas.
Currently, a strong base of the junta forces near borderpillar number 40has been surrounded by AA members. The junta forces targeted AAmembers by the helicopters many times on Sunday, said a local resident.
