AA attacks military council vehicles with heavy weapons in Rathedaung

The Arakan Army attacked two vehicles of military council’s Border Guard Police with RPG on Saturday night burning and damaging both vehicles south of Maungdaw Township in Rakhine State.

It incident occurred near Sar-ngan-chaung bridge on the border of Rathedaung and Maungdaw townships.

The vehicles were fired near Sar-ngan-chaung bridge between Inn-din and Koe-tan-kauk villages at about 6pm. The place has seen similar attacks in the past.

AA fired RPG at two military council’s vehicles. Both were hit and burned killing 4 border police, according to AA source.

One vehicle was carrying a Koe-tan-kauk police major who was on his return trip from na-kha-kha ( military base)  in Inn-din to Koe-tan-kauk station when they were hit and burned. There could be many casualties, the villager said.

“It is not easy for the villagers to know the casualty. But, as both were hit, the number can be high,” he said.

Other locals said they saw the two military council vehicles and all on board the vehicles could be dead,” he said.

Following the attack, the border guard stations from Inn-din na-kha-kha and Koe-tan-kauk fired continuously with heavy guns targeting the site of incident and nearby places as usual, local residents said.

Narinjara could not provide the number of casualties as it was not able to reach neither the AA spokesperson nor the military council side.
