Two brothers, U Saw Hla (29) and Maung San Phyo (25) fromPaletwa in Chin state, charged with Section 505(A) of the Sedition Act andSection 17(1) of the Unlawful Association Act, were sentenced to 3 years inprison each, a family member said.

“The elder brother U Saw Hla was sentenced to 3 years inprison under Section 505(A) of the

Sedition Act on December 12 th , and Maung San Phyo, theyounger brother, received three-year jail term under Section 17(1) of theUnlawful Association Act on December 14th”, he told Narinjara.

The Junta soldiers came and arrested the two of them onOctober 13th and 14th. The Regime troops not only handcuffed and blindfoldedthe two brothers when they took them away, but also assaulted them along theroad, according to their family.

“The two of them were working as masons in Rakhinestate. We hope that they will be released soon, as a ceasefire has beenreached with AA. Everyone is devastated that two innocent people

have been sentenced to prison like this”, the family memberadded.

The Military Council had also charged U Chit San, a nearly70-year-old elderly man with underlying health conditions from Abaung Thavillage in Paletwa township, under Section 505(A) of the Sedition Act,and the Junta-controlled Sittwe township court sentenced him to 3 years inprison on October 26th.
