The United Nations HighCommissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) announced that roof shelters, winterequipment, personal items, masks, kitchen utensils and other necessities wereprovided to 2800 people in Buthidaung Township on January 10th.
In the statement datedJanuary 13th, UNHCR described the process of distributing such aid. Inaddition, the statement said that similar supplies will be distributed widelyin some areas in Rathedaung township next week.
UNHCR and partnerorganizations are able to resume humanitarian assistance programs in northernRakhine this week.
The distribution ofhumanitarian aid to communities suffered by the conflicts was temporarilysuspended from September 2022, but these operations resumed on January 10th,the statement said.
The Military Council ordered humanitarian organizations to halt their aidprograms in 8 townships in the northern part of Rakhine State citing securityconcerns since September 15th last year, after the fighting withArakan Army (AA) recurred in Rakhine State.
