On March 22, the National Solidarity and PeacemakingNegotiation Committee (NSPNC) of the Military Council held a meeting with three ethnic armedorganizations to discuss the peace conferenceand elections.

The United Wa State Party (UWSP), National DemocraticAlliance Army (NDAA), and Shan State ProgressParty (SSPP) - three northern ethnic armed organizations - were in attendanceat the meeting.

U Than Soe Naing, a political analyst regarding thisdiscussion, said that Chinasopinion on Myanmar is the sameposition advocated by the UWSP.

Overall, the UWSP continues to follow Chinas attitude towards Myanmar. This means that the UWSP does not cooperate with the NUG in the current SpringRevolution, but remains neutral as requested by China, and talks with the Military Councilabout their regional rights and interests. The Military Council is also concerned that the UWSP will participate inthe Spring Revolution, so they areholding peace talks and persuading the USWP to stay away from the SpringRevolution forces by discussingand negotiating with UWSPsdemands related to their regional interests,he said.

Furthermore, it has been reported that the two sides willfinalize a mutual discussion agreement

and sign it during the meeting scheduled for March 23.
