15 including 13 women arrested for being in contact with NUG

On 4 April the military council announced that Ma Ei Shwe Sin Myi head of the federal school for Aung Myay Thar Zan along with 14 others were arrested for maintaining links with the National Unity Government (NUG) and also conducting educational lectures illegally.

It stated that the school started operating in February last year and regulalary conducted online classes. The collected funds were donated to the NUG, it added.

A released photograph claiming to document 13 women and 2 men, who were arrested by the military rulers. However, Narinjara News can not confirm if all of thme were in teaching depertment.

Besides Ma Ei Shwe Sin Myint, other arrested individuals include Ma Tin Tin Lat, Ma San San Win, Ma Khaing Mar Than, Ma Nay Kyi Win, Ma Kyi Mar Wai, Ma Aye Myat Mon, Ma Khin Nwe Oo, Ma Yin Yin Min, Ma Yin Myat Naing, Ma Khaing Mar Phyo, Ma Ei Ei Aung, Ma Chaw Su Than, Ko Kyaw San Htwe and Ko Zaw Myo Tun.

The military authority also issued a warning to the participating students and their parents for legal actions.

"Due to lack of trust in the education system controlled by the military council, the alternative schools have emerged. Despite the risk of arrest, we will insist on education through any possible means. The military rulers may feel threatened with our efforts as they realise very well that we can offer a better education than them,” said a concerned teacher.
