National Unity Government (NUG) stated on 16 April that 40 children (under the age of 18) were killed among168 victims on 11 April Pazigyivillage airstrike by junta forces in Kantbalu township of Sagaing division.
Among the young victims, six children were under the age of five, 19 below 14 years and five below 18whereas 10 victims are yet to be identifiedwith their actual ages.
Details of the victims’ name, age and addresses have been listed by the NUG.
A total of 16 injured individuals have been treated by the NUG's medical unit. Over 300 war victims had left theirplaces and the NUG continued to do reliefworks.
NUG’s defense minister U Ray Mon said that efforts would be made to restore justice over the mass killingcaused by the junta’s air strikes.
“The air strike by junta forces on people's peaceful assembly is unacceptable. The military councildeliberately bombed a village as it didnot accept the military rule,” he added.
The NUG stated that number of injured and affected people is too large and it’s beyond the response capacityof the authority of NUG.
“The perpetrators (military council) must be made accountable for the crime. The international communityshould look into the matter and stopselling weapons & jet fuels to the Myanmar military regime so that it can not kill more innocentpeople in the days to come,” said theNUG.
