Body of self-killed Sittwe institution principal recovered



The body of U Thein Naing (45), principal of Sittwe government technical high school, who committed suicide by going down to the river on Sittwe, was recovered at around 7 pm on 3 June.


His body was found at the western side of Basara village in Sittwe beach, informed Ko Lin Lin, president of Metta Yonhcyi Foundation.

 

"At around 7 pm, his body was seen three miles west of Basara village, southwest of Sittwe hotel. Looking at his clothes, it was confirmed that it was Thein Naing 's body," added  Lin Lin.

 

On 2 June, the principal went down alone to Kelantan river and at place where there is a rock between the intersection of Triangle road and old Sittwe raft, he killed self in the afternoon hours, said the locals.

 

Many staff of the high school came looking for him and they found his motorcycle along with a white hat on the beach.

 

The head teacher was a Burmese by birth and used to work in Sittwe for some years.

 

Currently his body is kept at Sittwe general hospital's morgue. 

 

The reason behind his suicide is yet to be revealed, said Lin Lin.

 

He becomes the second person, who committed suicide in Rakhine State after the cyclone Mocha hit the State on 14 May last.
