Resistance attack on Chaung-U immigration office leaves four junta soldiers dead

Resistance forces attacked the office of the Immigration and Population in Chaung-U Township in Monywa District, Sagaing Region, on the morning of June 4, according to resistance Battalion 8 in Monywa District.

“We launched the attack on the immigration office on ChaungU-Myinmu Road. In the attack, about four junta guards were fatally shot,” said an official from Battalion 8.

The resistance official further said their fighters also seized four G-3 rifles and 49 bullets from the regime soldiers.

The surprise attack was followed by the deployment of reinforcements by Myanmar army military vehicles, which led to tighter controls in the surrounding areas, locals said.

“They must have been scared after the attack. They have deployed more troops in the area and have started checking every passerby coming to and from Myinmu to buy groceries. They are also checking their cell phones,” said a local resident.

On the evening of 4 June, a company of the Daung Min (Peacock King) Column reportedly intercepted two military vehicles with cluster mines.
