Emergency aid needed in Rakhine State even after 2 months of Mocha: ULA/AA



The Arrakha Emergency Relief and Resettlement Committee (ERRCA) under United League of Arakan /Arakan Army (ULA/AA), which was formed to carry out rehabilitation activities for the Rakhine people affected by cyclone Mocha, announced on 14 July that even after two months of the massive storm, the Rakhine region needs emergency assistance and rehabilitation works.

"ERRCA recognizes all those who helped the people of Arakan with money and manpower after the Mocha hit the region on 14 May. However, there is still need for rehabilitation works and we request the well-wishers to come forward with support,” said in their statement.

With the spirit of humanitarian support to the cyclone affected people, the donations received from local people and abroad were used properly by the ERRCA.

 

Over 75 percent of the damaged house owners were reached within two months after the disaster with the scheme for shelters, added the statement.



 

They are working tirelessly for the benefit of all those affected families so that they can have a shelter as soon as possible.

 

After collecting accurate data of damage for carrying out relief and rehabilitation activities, the committee started working to address the livelihood issues of the local people. Moreover, the healthcare issues were also taken care of, added the statement.

 

Moreover, the farmers have been encouraged to cultivate their paddy fields on time. They have been facilitated with transportation and communication activities.

 

The people who do business with building materials, rice, oil, medicines, basic food items including have been advised to avoid selling their goods at high prices.
