The Arrakha Emergency Relief and Resettlement Committee (ERRCA) underUnited League of Arakan /Arakan Army (ULA/AA), which was formed to carry outrehabilitation activities for the Rakhine people affected by cyclone Mocha,announced on 14 July that even after two months of the massive storm, theRakhine region needs emergency assistance and rehabilitation works.
"ERRCA recognizes all those who helped the people of Arakan withmoney and manpower after the Mocha hit the region on 14 May. However, there isstill need for rehabilitation works and we request the well-wishers to comeforward with support,” said in their statement.
With the spirit of humanitarian support to the cycloneaffected people, the donations received from local people and abroad were usedproperly by the ERRCA.
Over 75 percent of the damaged house owners were reached within twomonths after the disaster with the scheme for shelters, added the statement.
They are working tirelessly forthe benefit of all those affected families so that they can have a shelter assoon as possible.
After collecting accurate data of damage for carrying out relief andrehabilitation activities, the committee started working to address thelivelihood issues of the local people. Moreover, the healthcare issues werealso taken care of, added the statement.
Moreover, the farmers have been encouraged to cultivate their paddy fieldson time. They have been facilitated with transportation and communicationactivities.
