Arakanese Social Association (Japan) will organise a fundraising event with an aim to support the cyclone Mocha affected Arakanese families.
The event is scheduled for 13 August, which is a summer holiday, from 9 am to 4 pm at Umino Kouen beach in Yokohama of Japan.
The event is made free for the visitors, who will be able to participate in the
Rakhine traditional food sale along the beach.
A pavilion has also been arranged where the visitors can splash water and recite songs.
The organisers are currently issuing free tickets and if the visitors bring the tickets they will receive
drinks, informed Arakanese Social Association
(Japan) chairman U Nyi Nyi Htay.
Talking to Narinjara News, the chairman informed that main purpose of the program is to collect donations
from the visitors which will be spent
for the benefit of Arakanese people.
All Rakhine families and other ethnic people of Myanmar, who live in Japan, have been invited for the
fundraising event.
"Natural disasters cannot be prevented and hence we have decided to support the Mocha affected Rakhine
families from outside the country,” said
Nyi Nyi Htay.
Their association is also working with various international organizations to cooperate with their endeavor.
Mocha hit Rakhine State on 14 May killing more than 140 people. Tens of thousands of houses were destroyed
and even after two months of the disaster
the people are still suffering.
The relief materials provided by the military council remain very little. Shockingly, the military
council has also banned the access of international
aid organizations since 7 June.
