Leading Rakhine woman leader Daw Nyo Aye taken away by the police



Daw Nyo Aye, chairperson of Rakhine Women's Network, was taken away by noon today to the number one police station, according to an eye witness.

A resident revealed that the leading Rakhine woman leader was picked up by the police personnel from the Arakan women's network office at Mingang ward in Sittwe township.

"I know that she was taken away by the police. However, I have no idea if she has been arrested or not,” he added.

 Mentionable is that  Nyo Aye attended a memorial of the 13 August rice killing day, held at the Sittwe students’ union office to mark the 56th Sittwe Rice Crisis Day and she may be picked up by the police to interrogate about it.

 

Being the chairperson of Rakhine Women's Network,  Nyo Aye remains active over different issues relating to the Rakhine women.
