After the military council soldiers arrested a member of United League of Arakan (ULA, the politicalwing of Arakan Army), the AA membersdetained a junta officer and twopolicemen in Kyauk Phyu
township of Rakhine State.
ULA member Ko Han Lin was arrested by the junta forces on 6 September and AA members responded picking up anofficer and twopoliceman in the evening hours.
A member of the ULA administration unit, Han Lin was arrested by the soldiers based at Kyauk Talon armycheckpoint while he was returning fromthe downtown areas of Kyauk Phyu township.
By evening at around 6:30 pm, a junta officer along with two policeman were picked up by AA members from Zin Chaung village underthe same township.
A local resident, who wanted anonymity, informed that a group of 30 soldiers came to the village andsearched for their officer and policemanin several houses, whose identities are yet to revealed.
Following the incident of mutual arrests by the junta forces and AA members, many villagers fled theirplaces.
“As there are so many inspections, the villagers wanted to avoid the troubles. Moreover, they are oftenframed as AA members or sympathizerswrongly,” he added, expressing apprehensions that the
gun fighting between the two armed groups may resume soon.
AA spokesperson U Khaing Thukha and Rakhine State security& border affairs ministercolonel Kyawthura were contacted for details, but there was no adequate response.
