5 types of exports to Bangladesh restricted from Maungdaw trade station

The department of trade announced that 5 types of exports will be allowed only from the Sittwe border trading post (Shwe Mingang port),where as the same has been restricted from Maungdaw trade station.

The allowed export items include  agricultural products comprising rice/broken rice, pulses sesame, peanut and onion. Moreover, saltwater and freshwater fishes are also permitted to export from Sittwe trading post.

With an aim  to develop trades with  other countries in an orderly manner, the department has taken the decision and it started from 4September last.

Maungdaw trade station was mainly used for transporting items from the Kanyin Chaung Economic Zone but currently it’s not allowed from the said trade station. The Bangladesh side used for the Taknef port traded with Myanmar.

In the last four months (till July this fiscal year), the Myanmar-Bangladesh bilateral trade increases to US$ 3.57 million, where exports from Myanmar increases  to US$3.35 million.
