Bangladesh-Myanmar border guard commander-level meeting held

A meeting of border guard commander-level from Bangladesh and Myanmar was organised in the morning hours of 10 September.

The meeting was held near the friendship bridge on Naff river located at Kong dom of Naikhongchari township in Bangladesh and Taungbro in Myanmar’ Maungdaw township.

According to Bangla Cox's Bazar News, two sides emphasized on communicating each other in need of resolving issues from the border areas.

Furthermore, the cross-border human trafficking, drug smuggling and other border related issues were discussed  in the meeting.

The meeting was attended by 20 members from 38th battalion of Bangladesh Border Guard (led by colonel Mo Ha March Saiful Islam) and 10 representatives led by battalion commander of the second border guard from the Myanmar side.

The meeting highlighted on peace and tranquility over the international border, which often witnesses various crimes including kidnapping, drugs & human trafficking and activities of armed groups.

In last July and August, the border guards of the two sides jointly conducted the maritime patrols along the  Naff river between the two neighbouring countries up to five  times.
