Soon after a secondary school teacher was raped and killed in Rathedaung township of Rakhine State on 16 September, the local residents express serious concern over the security of common Rakhine people in their own places.

Daw Hnin Yu Nwe (37 years old) went to Pan Paw Byint secondary school to take classes when the miscreant targeted her. The school is about two miles away from her residence in Kyunt Paw Pauk Taw village under Rathedaung township.

The case is now under investigation by the United League of Arakan /Arakan Army (ULA/AA). The culprit is yet to be identified, informed the family members.

U Maung Kyaw Yin, head of the village administration, informed that the ULA/AA has been investigating the crime. Some villagers and education staff in nearby villages were already interrogated.

Her cousin Ko Soe Min Aung informed that she was on a noble mission and hence her murder will affect many more children in the locality. He demanded that the culprits must be brought to justice by ULA/AA authorities.

A resident of Pan Paw Byint village revealed that they haven't found the culprit till date. The lady had a stab wound on the thigh and her neck was silted. The victim’s body was found on the road.

The people under the education department and common Rakhine individuals were sad to receive the news.

Rakhine National Education Network secretary Ma Ma Win informed Narinjara News that it was an unfortunate incident. The criminal raped and killed the teacher and it will scare other female teachers in the areas.

The locals have strongly condemned the incident, which has been reported for the first time in the locality, and demanded the arrest & punishment to the culprits under the laws at the earliest.
