Junta accuses arrested businessman U Si Thu Aung of disturbing national stability

 The junta authorities have announced that arrestedbusinessman named U Si Thu Aung (b) Kaung Phyu hailing from Man Aung town inRakhine State is facing the allegation ofdestroying national stability through themilitary council-owned newspapers.

 

Si Thu Aung is accused of inciting instability throughsocial networking sites on Friday. The 50 years old Burman national wasarrested under the relevant laws for carrying out propaganda activities.

 

Many otherindividuals were also arrested for doing similar works to undermine thestability and peace of the State.

 

The junta soldiersalong with thepolicemen and village administrator arrested Si Thu Aung from his residence on19 September, informed a resident of Man Aung area, adding that he was accusedof maintaining links with the People's Defense Forces (PDF).

 



Moreover, Man Aung police accused him of doinganti-national activities and a case under section 505-a against the State waslodged.

 

His family members have denied all allegations and claimedthat Si Thu Aung is not associated with political activities.

 

He was not allowedto meet his family members till 22 September evening.

 

Si Thu Aung owned the Mayka Thisar phone shop andmoney transfer service center in Man Aung city market.

 

If proven guilty, he will face the imprisonment of three years along with a fine.

 

The junta authorities have been chasing common peoplesuspecting their involvement with the PDF and many are already arrested sincelast year. Some villagers were already sent to jails for a longer period by themilitary council for allegedly supporting the PDF.
