Six members of a Muslim family, who entered illegally
from Bangladesh, were arrested in Buthidaung township, said a statement issued
by Rakhine State military council.
The junta officials went to Myaung Nar village under
Buthidaung township on Friday following an input about the family.
“During inspections,
they found the family of Amin Ali (37 years old). There were two women and three children in the family,” said a source close
to the junta officials.
They took shelter in Kutupalaung refugee camp of
Cox’s Bazar locality in south Bangladesh for many years. They left the camp
without informing others.
The
Muslim family moved from Teknaf township, a border township of Bangladesh, to
Rathedaung township of Rakhine State with an aim to arrive back at their
previous place in Myaung Nar village.
Initially the family arrived at Ah Angu Maw Kon Dan
village and then proceeded to Akar Taung village under Rathedaung Township. They hired boats
and entered Buthidaung with no valid documents.
A resident of Buthidaung said that often those
refugees leave Bangladesh to arrive in Malaysia looking for jobs, but sometimes
the brokers cheat them. On many occasions they are arrested on the way.
But this family came to Rakhine
State to live in their former village, added the resident.
