The junta
authorities
have arrested
25 local residents
including a
monk from the
Rakhine capital city of Sittwe after raiding multiple buildings, IDP camps and a monastery on the night of 21 November.
Thus the number of arrestees in Rakhine State
has increased to 50 and they are still in the custody of junta forces.
Among those
arrested include a monk from Tezarama (Sarataw) monastery, 19 refugees from camps, two residents of
Padamya monastery and three individuals from Wra Thayar area.
Some of them are over 50
years old, claimed
a local resident, adding that the junta soldiers and
policemen came with three military vehicles during night hours.
The security forces fired several gunshots during the
raid in Set Yon Suu ward.
Three residents fled from the place. Later a
monk was summoned to the police station for interrogating over three residents.
A local woman informed that they could hear the loud sound of machine guns firing on Monday night.
Currently, over thirty Sittwe residents have been detained and
interrogated at the Military Security Forces Office in the army compound.
In Sittwe, a father and his son were arrested from Kandawgyi ward on 17 November. They were suspected to
be involved in recording visuals when the junta soldiers patrolled the area.
On 15 November, the soldiers abducted
ten local residents
from
Mingang and Kandaw Gyi wards in Sittwe and took away them
with four
military vehicles.
