The junta soldiers have dropped bombs on populous villages under Ponna Kyunt township in Rakhine State
on Sunday by a drone which injured
two local residents.
Ma Win Chay (over 30
years old) hailing from Khamaung Taw village sustained serious injuries in her left eye and U Sein Tha Tun
(64) from Ye Ro Byin village
received injuries on his hands.
"A bullet hit Win Che’s eye. She was even accompanied by her children. On the other hand, Sein Tha Tun was
sustained wounds on his hands. There
is no fighting going on here, but the military council soldiers dropped the bombs by a drone,” said a
local resident.
At around 2:40 pm the soldiers dropped the bombs on Khamaung Taw and Ye Ro Byin villages.
"When I was returning home from the paddy field, I saw a drone was dropping the bombs. Some families had
already left the village. Since the
fighting began, the LIB 550 battalion based in Ponna Kyunt started firing with heavy weapons on
the villages. Now the remaining families
have left their places,” said a farmer from Khamaung Taw village.
As the bombs were dropped, many villagers took shelter in makeshift bunkers.
Both the villages are located on opposite banks of Shwe Mingang seaport creek in Sittwe.
Seriously injured villagers have been sent to Sittwe city hospital for
medical treatment.
On 25 November, Ponna Kyunt witnessed the shelling attack of the navy personnel
that burned down the city market. Traders in the market have to face a huge
loss because of the incident.
