A group of unidentified individuals coming in a white civilian car recently distributed threatening leaflets (letters) to the students union and posted those letters in various places for public viewing.

The residents of Sittwe’s urban wards witnessed those leaflets in the evening hours on  24 December.

At the number two basic education high school in Bauk Thee Su ward of  Sittwe township, the local people witnessed spray-painting on walls targeting the students Union.

The  leaflets targeting the Rakhine State Students Union, after it decided not to attend classes during the war, were also distributed in various streets.

"The leaflets were also handed out near the basic education high school. The eye witnesses revealed that some individuals in civilian attire entered the school and distributed the leaflets,” said a local resident.

A representative of the Rakhine State Students Union said that the Rakhine people are losing their lives at the hands of soldiers under the ongoing conflict situation and hence they asked the students to boycott classes.

"When our own people are facing brutal atrocities and the military council continues issuing threats to the civilians, there is no point in attending schools," he asserted.

On 11 December, the Rakhine State Students Union issued a statement announcing their rejection to the fascist education system of the military council and issued the boycott call for the students of all government affiliated schools.
