A local claims that on December 25, at around 2:00 PM, he
stepped on a landmine on his way to the Waterfall Monastery in the Kyaing Taung
mountains and lost his right leg.
"He went to the Waterfall Monastery in the mountains of
Kyaing Taung. He is of Chin nationality
and is presently experiencing mental health issues. In addition to several
injuries across his body, he sadly lost his right leg,” the resident stated.
The injured
individual is U Maung Tin Hla, a 50-year-old resident from Auk Ywar Paing Ward,
Minbya Township.
He is presently
undergoing medical treatment at Minbya General Hospital.

Township mentioned that junta troops have been stationed in the Kyaing Taung
mountains in Minbya Township since 2018. She added that landmines have been
planted along the mountains, creating difficulties for the local population
that relies on the forest and mountains for sustenance.
"At present, the
roads are closed, forcing us to depend on the nearby forest and mountains.
However, our lives are at risk due to the presence of junta troops stationed
there since 2018. The existence of landmines adds to our anxiety as we search
for food," she expressed.
On December 15,
around 1:00 PM, near the Minbya Myoma Police Station in Rakhine State, a man
stepped on a landmine, resulting in the severing of one leg and serious
injuries to the other leg.
The injured
individual is 38-year-old U Kyaw Maung from Zay Haung Paing Ward.
