The bodies of a mother and son were found this morning in the wreckage of a
house struck by the junta's artillery shells in Sin Cha Seik new village under
Mrauk U of Rakhine State, said the residents.
The victims have been identified as Ko Thein Hlaing, a teacher in his 30s
along with his 55-year-old mother named Daw Ma Aung Sein.
"Their bodies were discovered amid the wreckage of a house which collapsed
due to an artillery shell firing. Both the bodies were in the process of
rotting," added a resident.
The victims were hit by an artillery shell either on 25 December or next day.
In another incident in Mrauk-U township, an artillery shell fired by the junta
forces killed one local resident and injured another individual.
The deceased individual is Ko Tun Maung (40) who hailed from Kyauk Rit Kay
ward. The injured one is 29-year-old Ko Zaw Myo Win from Maung Shwi Kan
village under Mrauk-U township.
Several individuals were killed by the artillery shells fired by the junta
soldiers on 26 December across Mrauk-U locality.
They include Lat Kauk Zay ward administrator U Maung Pu
(54), Ko Tun Maung (40) from Kyauk Rit Kay ward, Ma Yu Hlaing Moe (10), Ma Aye
Than Kyi (11),
Maung Kyaw Min Soe (9) and Daw Sein Wah Nu (52) from Phayar Paw IDP camp.
Additionally, more than 10 others sustained injuries.
Between 24 and 26 December, at least 10 people were killed and at least 20 others were injured due to artillery shell attacks and
airstrikes by the junta forces who used drones and warplanes in the locality.
