At least two junta soldiers were killed and another one was seriously injured as they  stepped  on their own landmine in Rathedaung township of  Rakhine State.

According to a local resident, the landmine exploded within the 538th light infantry battalion camp, stationed in Rathedaung township, on Thursday at around 9 am.

"I heard the sound of a landmine explosion from the 538th battalion. The initial explosion resulted in immediate death of two soldiers. Upon hearing the first explosion, another soldier rushed to spot and  stepped on another landmine, leading to the second explosion,” added the resident.

The injured  soldier was  transported to Rathedaung hospital. The security was  heightened around the nearby immigration office and various urban areas.

"With the soldier now in the hospital, the security has been tightened in the area. The injured soldier has lost both the legs," stated  the resident.
