The Humanitarian and Development Coordination Office (HDCO) of the United League of Arakan (ULA) has revealed that the military regime has detained 277 innocent Rakhine civilians since the onset of the Rakhine conflicts on 13 November till the second week of January.

Between 13 and 30 November, the military junta detained 81 innocent civilians from different Rakhine townships, said the HDCO report.

Moreover,  172 civilians were arrested between 1 and 31 December and another 24 civilians were detained from 1 to 13 January.

Since the beginning of Rakhine conflicts, the junta has detained civilians using the context of overnight guest registration as a reason. The soldiers have also arrested many pedestrians.

In the conflict-ridden regions, the junta forces often entered residential areas and detained civilians to use as human shields.

Among those detained by the junta there are women, underage children, elderly individuals and university students too.
