Three Brotherhood Alliance expresses concern over disruption of communication services in Rakhine State

A  statement released by the Three Brotherhood Alliance on 18 January expressed concern over the military junta's disruption of communication services in Rakhine State.

It expressed serious concern over the junta’s deliberate discontinuation of communication lines in certain Rakhine townships.

The statement pointed out that their concern is rooted in past experiences, where evidence indicates that the junta forces tend to commit more war crimes against the civilians when the internet communication is deliberately restricted.

All phone and internet services in the Rakhine region have gone out of order except for Mytel.

Since 16 January, the MPT services in Sittwe township have been experiencing slowdowns. Today it is completely disconnected.

A Sittwe resident  reported that the communication services from all the operators (except for Mytel) were not available.

There is no official statement from the junta regarding the disruption of phone and internet services in the region.
