Junta forces conduct airstrikes on Ramree villages, university student killed, two injured

The junta forces carried out airstrikes on Kyat ThaYay village under  Ramree township on 23 February resulting in the deathof a 20-year-old university student and serious injuries to his father andanother villager.

 

The victim is identified as Maung Phyo San Aung, asecond-year student in Taungup University. His father  U Win Nu Aung andanother villager named Ko San Htay sustained serious injuries.

 

According to a local resident, two houses belonging toDaw Yaung Sein Ma and Ko Kyaw Kyaw Lwin were destroyed.

 

"The junta forces dropped bombs on the villagesusing warplanes. Even though there was no conflict in the locality, thesoldiers bombed the villages. The incident took place at around 5 pm, when thevillagers were relaxing at their homes,” said the resident.

 

Maung Phyo San Aung  was hit by the artilleryshell shrapnel and died on the spot. The junta forces  carried outairstrikes on Ramree locality as they did the previous day.
