Junta forces conduct airstrikes on Ramree villages, university student killed, two injured

The junta forces carried out airstrikes on Kyat Tha Yay village under  Ramree township on 23 February resulting in the death of a 20-year-old university student and serious injuries to his father and another villager.

 

The victim is identified as Maung Phyo San Aung, a second-year student in Taungup University. His father  U Win Nu Aung and another villager named Ko San Htay sustained serious injuries.

 

According to a local resident, two houses belonging to Daw Yaung Sein Ma and Ko Kyaw Kyaw Lwin were destroyed.

 

"The junta forces dropped bombs on the villages using warplanes. Even though there was no conflict in the locality, the soldiers bombed the villages. The incident took place at around 5 pm, when the villagers were relaxing at their homes,” said the resident.

 

Maung Phyo San Aung  was hit by the artillery shell shrapnel and died on the spot. The junta forces  carried out airstrikes on Ramree locality as they did the previous day.
