Junta officer collects list of 107 young men from Kyauk Ta Lone Muslim camp in Kyaukphyu for military training

The junta's tactical operation commander collected a list of 107 young men from Kyauk Ta Lone Muslim IDP camp in Kyaukphyu township of Rakhine State  stating that they were summoned for military training.

A refugee informed that on Tuesday over 20 soldiers, including the tactical operation commander Wunna Aung from the 542nd light infantry battalion, arrived in the camp in a vehicle. They collected a list of 107 healthy men aged between 18 and 35 saying that they were summoned for training programs.

Over the last few days, around 10 young individuals, including a woman, from the camp have sought refuge with the Arakan Army (AA) due to the forced enrolment into military services.

Narinjara News has obtained the names of those detained, but decided not to disclose due to security concerns.

Earlier on 17 February, the refugees revealed that the camp management committee had collected a list of male IDPs aged 18 to 55 asking them to be ready for joining military services.

Even though the military service law  applies to individuals between the ages of 18 and 35, the junta collected names of individuals up to 55 years.

The junta forces also insisted on providing names of 150 individuals for the military service.

The refugees expressed concerns that the junta officials threatened to arrest anyone who refuses to join the military service. On the other hand, they promised the Muslim refugees much needed citizenship certificates after the military training is completed.
