Junta officer collects list of 107 young men from Kyauk Ta Lone Muslim camp in Kyaukphyu for military training

The junta's tacticaloperation commander collected a list of 107 young men from Kyauk Ta Lone MuslimIDP camp in Kyaukphyu township of Rakhine State  stating that they weresummoned for military training.

 

A refugee informed that onTuesday over 20 soldiers, including the tactical operation commander Wunna Aungfrom the 542nd light infantry battalion, arrived in the camp in a vehicle. Theycollected a list of 107 healthy men aged between 18 and 35 saying that theywere summoned for training programs.

 

Over the last few days,around 10 young individuals, including a woman, from the camp have soughtrefuge with the Arakan Army (AA) due to the forced enrolment into militaryservices.

 

Narinjara News has obtainedthe names of those detained, but decided not to disclose due to securityconcerns.

 

Earlier on 17 February, therefugees revealed that the camp management committee had collected a list ofmale IDPs aged 18 to 55 asking them to be ready for joining military services.

 

Even though the militaryservice law  applies to individuals between the ages of 18 and 35, thejunta collected names of individuals up to 55 years.

 

The junta forces alsoinsisted on providing names of 150 individuals for the military service.

 

The refugees expressedconcerns that the junta officials threatened to arrest anyone who refuses tojoin the military service. On the other hand, they promised the Muslim refugeesmuch needed citizenship certificates after the military training is completed.
