4 junta officers, including commander of 233rd LIB killed, 59 captured alive: CDF-Daai



The Chinland Defense Force-Daai (CDF-Daai) in a statement issued on 28 February claimed that during the two-month operation four  clashes with junta  forces took place and four  junta officers were killed and 59 others were captured alive. A large volume of arms and ammunition were also seized from their possession.

 The deceased soldiers include lieutenant colonel Aung Htun, commander of the 233rd light infantry battalion (LIB) stationed in Buthidaung township of Rakhine State along with one major and two captains.

Among those captured include one major, five captains and eight non-commissioned officers including others.

 According to the statement, CDF-Daai initiated the Mon Taung operation on 28 January capturing a total of 15 junta soldiers  including 11 non-commissioned officers, two sergeants with one captain and one lieutenant of the junta.

On 7 February in Laung Pwe Taung, a joint operation was conducted by CDF-Daai, Chin National Army (CNA) and allied revolutionary forces. 19 non-commissioned officers, including 3 sergeants and one lieutenant from the junta, surrendered to the allied revolutionary forces.

 Lone Yin Taung operation in Chin State on 10 February and Laung Thwe Taung operation on 21 February  witnessed the capture of  seven junta soldiers including two majors, three captains and two non-commissioned officers.

The soldiers abandoned their camp to flee to the Magwe region as the Arakan Army fighters attacked Paletwa township. They were subsequently defeated by CDF-Daai forces.

 

CDF-Daai operates in Paletwa, Mindat, Matupi and Kanpetlet townships of Chin State.


The statement reiterated that the prisoners of war will be treated in accordance with the Geneva Convention guidelines.
