Relatives of Min Aung Hlaing's wife exempted from joining in military service

All relatives of Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of junta’s supreme leader senior general Min Aung Hlaing hailing from her hometown have been exempted from the People's Military Service Law, said a source familiar with the village administration.

Kyu Kyu Hla's hometown is Zee Kyun village under Auk Nat Maw village-tract in Thandwe township.

A former village administrator informed Narinjara News that on 14 March, the general administration office of Thandwe district issued military service exemption cards to the relatives of  Kyu Kyu Hla.

The exemption cards were  issued under  the supervision of Thandwe district administration office.

The person in charge in Zee Kyun village compiled the list of Kyu Kyu Hla's relatives, which was later then sent to the concerned office for necessary actions.

A local young social activist criticized the junta chief  Min Aung Hlaing for the compulsory conscription law as a dictatorial step and harmful to the future generation. He also  condemned the exemption granted to his wife's relatives from the military service and  urged young people to oppose such measures.

"If military service is mandatory, everyone should participate in it. It's unjust to exempt the relatives of his wife, while imposing pressure on other young people. The enforcement of the military service laws undermine the prospects of the young people. I appeal to young individuals to resist the unjustified law for their own freedom," he added.

The concerned committee of  People's Military Service Law was established in Thandwe on 6 March.

Since 18 March, the committee has been insisting the village administrators to enlist two youths from each village-tract and recruit every four months, concluded the resident.
