Over 30 civilians killed, 40 injured in Rakhine due to junta’s airstrikes & shelling



The  military junta, facing setbacks in the Rakhine conflicts, has intentionally attacked civilians and it has resulted in the deaths of over 30 innocent people and injuries to 40 others  within three days.

The list of casualties, within 16 to 18 March, enclosed here.

 (On 16 March, 3 fatalities and 15 injuries were reported from four Rakhine townships)

 At around 2 pm, an artillery shell fired by the junta forces near Sa Nyin village under Myebon township struck U Kyaw Win (50), his son Ko Maung Ye Lin (30) and daughter Ma May Ni Win (23) hailing from Pyi Char village and they died on the spot.

At the same time, Ma Saw Hnin Phyu (15)  and Ko Zaw Win (27) from Sa Nyin village sustained serious injuries.

An artillery shell fired by the 344th infantry battalion, stationed in Par Da Leik of Sittwe, landed on Kone Tan Kyein Chaung village under  Ponnagyun township and  injured 10 civilians.

 They include  U Oo Thein Tun (70), Daw Oo Than Nwet (53), Daw Aye Khin May (40), Daw Ma Nwet Yee (50), Ma Zin Zin Moe (16), Ma San Khin (20), Ma Hnin Hnin Wai (25), Ma Khine Thazin Oo (5), Ma Hnin Yu Khine (3) and Ma Khin San Oo (10).

 A bomb was dropped from a Y-12 military aircraft, which landed at  Pu Yain village under Mrauk-U township, injuring 13-year-old Maung Noorhan Nordin.

 On 15 March an artillery shell fired by the 36th police battalion on Bu May village near Sittwe University injured a couple from Set Yone Su ward 2 of Sittwe township.


 (On 17 March, there were 6 fatalities and at least 15 were injured)

 At around 12 am, a bomb dropped from a Y-12 aircraft hit Yat junction near Bar Bu Taung and Nan Yar Kone in Mrauk-U locality. As a result, four individuals, including women, were killed and at least eight others were injured.

 At around 2 pm, the soldiers  fired an artillery shell on Let Pan Pyar village under Pauktaw township. It resulted in the deaths of a child (Ma Khin Myo Nwe, aged 5) and an elderly person (U Oo Shwe Win, aged over 50) and injuries to three people, including a pregnant woman.

 The injured individuals include  Daw Ma Than Htay (30), U Than Lwin (27) and  Ma Chit Su (14).

(On 18 March, there were 22 fatalities and 29 injuries)

At around 1:34 am, a junta jet fighter bombed Thar Dae Muslim village in Chain Taung village-tract under  Minbya township. This attack resulted in the deaths of 22 Muslim civilians and injuries to 29 others.

 The deceased were Mawlawi U Hasa Nali (60), a Muslim religious scholar, along with his wife and children (from 3 months 1 year of age). More than 29 individuals were also injured in the incident, Two more individuals died in the hospital bringing the death toll to 22.

Between 1 to 15 March, 21 Rakhine civilians were killed. As of 18 March, the death toll has increased up to 50 people.
