Junta launches airstrikes between Thandwe and Taungup in southern Rakhine



The junta forces have carried out airstrikes on the mountains between Thandwe and Taungup townships in southern Rakhine State this afternoon, said the local residents.

 

The airstrikes were carried out on the mountains near Chi Chaung between Hone Pauk village under  Taungup township and Daw Mya New village under  Thandwe township at around 1 pm, informed a resident of Shwe Hlay.

 

“The airstrikes were carried out targeting  Chi Chaung. I heard the sound of 11 explosions. A jet fighter flew over the village many times,” he added.


Hone Pauk village and Chi Chaung areas are located between Thandwe and Taungup townships.

 

"I heard explosions after the warplanes flew in the afternoon hours," said a resident of Kan Day village.


Narinjara News tried to contact nearby villagers to verify if any clash broke out between the Arakan Army (AA) fighters and junta forces in those areas.


The residents also reported that Mytel phone lines were down in Thandwe and Taungup localities this morning.
